Guru (2007) : Shauk Hai | शौक़ है | Sowmya Raoh

One of the most simplest and arguably one of the best songs that A.R.Rahman has composed ever. A perfect example of Beauty in Simplicity. Beautifully rendered by Sowmya Raoh. This is the favorite song of someone who is very very close to my heart. I still remember when she borrow my phone for a night to listen this song all night and then whole day humming this song non-stop. Share your views on this song. Enjoy.

Raat ka shauk hai
Raat ki saundhi si
Khamoshi ka Shauk hai
Subah ki roshni bezubaan subhon ki aur gungunaati
Roshni ka shauk hai, oh shauk hai !

(I aspire of the nightThe earthen feel of the night time
I aspire of silence
Those rays of the morning light humming towards the mute morning
I aspire of light, I just aspire )

San sani anwlon ka
Ke ishq ke banwlon ka
San sani anwle
Ke ishq ke banwle
Barf se khelte badalon ka
Shauk hai
(I aspire to taste the tangy amlas
I aspire to experience the madness that lovers possess
Of those pungent amlas
Of those crazy lovers
I aspire of the clouds playing with the ice caps
I aspire (to touch))

Kaash ye zindagi Khel hi khel mein kho gayi hoti
Raat ka shauk hai
(I wish this life were lost in its own play
I aspire of the night)

Neend ki goliyon ka
Khwab ke loriyon ka
Bezubaan aus ki boliyon ka; Shauk hai
(I aspire of those sleeping pills
Of those lullabies that dreams have in store for me
I aspire of the words of these mute dew drops)

Kaash ye zindagi binkahe binsune so gayi hoti

I wish this life never reacted to sound and words and just lay dead
