Kohra (1964) - Yeh Nayan Dare | ये नयन डरे डरे | Hemant Kumar

The movie is version of Daphne du Maurier's 1938 novel, Rebecca, which was previous adapted by Alfred Hitchcock' as Academy Award-winning Rebecca (1940) though some supernatural elements were added to it. This version is famous for its twist ending which alters significantly from the original novel. (Sourace : Wikipedia). This song is sheer magic, magical lyrics by Kaifi Azmi, Magical and peaceful music and singing by Hemant Kumar and magical beauty of Waheeda Rahman add all the ingredient makes it a perfect song!

Veer Zaara (2004) - Jaane Kyon | जाने क्यों | Lata Mangeshkar

The composition and the way the song has been sung and treated...just says it all...old is gold. who in today's generation of music directors and singers can create such a magic? Unfortunately this song was not part of the movie but they used the instrumental of this song in movie. But, still I must say this song is so peaceful and beautiful.

Lucky Ali - Dekha Hai Aise Bhi | देखा है ऐसे भी | Album - Sifar (1998)

Such sculpted tracks, such aesthetic visuals, such crystal lyrics. Its so clean and still so green, still no one compares... these songs make me miss my childhood years most.. Whenever i returned to this song in all these years it always make little more sense than the last time..thats the beauty of the song. Lucky Ali was ahead of his times. It would take crappy bollywood another 100 years to perhaps comprehend the genius of his music. This song hits straight to one's soul , simple and deceptive lyrics , equally mind boggling video and a melody from heaven.

Blue - One Love | Album - One Love (2002)

Its from the 2nd studio album ONE LOVE (2002) by Blue. The Bollywood movie, Rakht, featured a version of this song partly in Hindi. This is the most famous song by the band and kind of identity of them. They have also made a version in which they invited singers from all over the world and sings LOVE in various languages around the world to give message of unity in diversity and all we need is love.

Prem Geet (1981) - Hothon Se Chhoo Lo Tum | होंठों से छू लो तुम | Jagjit Singh

They says some songs are classic, some are timeless and all but I must say this song is IMMORTAL like the lyrics in which lyricist asking his lady to make her love immortal. Jagjit singh ji simple composition just melt in your heart and words does all the trick to play with your heart. One of the best song by Jagjit ji. Truly A MASTERPIECE !!

Green Day - Give Me Novacaine | Album - American Idiot (2004)

First of all if you don't know what is Novacaine then "Novacaine is an anesthetic from the cocaine family (N17 H21 NO4). It goes to the neurotransmitters of the body and blocks the synapses between nerve endings. that makes it impossible for the pain signal to be transported via the nerve. This does wear off, but when these anesthetics are abused it does damage the nerve endings and creates an imbalance that is only pseudo-corrected by more usage. That is when it crosses the line to addiction. The false feelings of Euphoria are just the psychological manifestations of a lack of pain."

Dil Chahta Hai (2001) - Kaisi Hai Ye Rut | कैसी है ये रुत | Srinivas

“Love need not speak volumes. It need not demand proof. It never has a happy ending - simply because it doesn't end as long as love is pure and true”.
― Amit Abraham

Tracy Chapman : Fast Car | Album - Tracy Chapman (1988)

This song of Tracy Chapman is from her self-titled debut album from 1988. The amazing thing about this song is that it doesn't sound like it was made in any particular decade. It doesn't have a "sound" in my opinion. Its an well crafted amazing song.

Gadar - Ek Prem Katha (2001) - Aan Milo Sajna | आन मिलो सजना | Ajoy Chakrabarty | Parveen Sultana

One the best Indian Classical Thumari. Ajoy Chakrabarty & Parveen Sultana are pride of India. Few artists who have consistently upheld the status and quality of Indian Classical music in the international arena both are from the Patiala Gharana. This song is based on Raga Khambaj - A common & popular raga. You'll get similarities with other khambaj based songs e.g.Aayo kahan se ghanshyam (Buddha mil gaya), famous khambaj thumri "Kaun gali gayo shyam" (used in Pakezaa) etc. I bet you, no other languages can create songs of this great immense passion. It just gets you in another world !!! Par Excellence. Sheer Brilliance !!!

Travis - Love Will Come Through | Album - 12 Memories (2003)

There is a story called "Lelele" : It depicts a man who chases an illusion (of love) into (what looks like) an abandoned house; there he finds bliss, he is taken through all stages of love (that one could have) towards a beautiful woman, only to realise when he leaves the house that time had a different meaning inside the house and 20 years have passed in reality, since he entered it; he finds his loved ones/family all gone. That's the price he paid for his debauchery.

Tanu Weds Manu (2011) : Yun Hi | यूँ ही | Mohit Chauhan

"Nobody in my life has ever known me the way you do. Nobody in my life has ever made me feel as good as you do. You know me, you know everything about me, and when you leave me, you're going to be leaving the real me, the me nobody else has ever seen, that's who you're going to be rejecting."
Jennifer Crusie (Bet Me)

Pink Floyd : Wish You Were Here | Album - Wish You Were Here (1975)

In 2011, this song was ranked No. 324 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. Writer of this song Roger Waters said about the song that "Either the music comes first and the lyrics are added, or music and lyrics come together. Only once have the lyrics been written down first — 'Wish You Were Here'. But this is unusual; it hasn't happened before. I wrote it around the time my grandmother died. She spent her last years at my mother's house, and when I visited, she would look at me with an anguished expression and go, 'Robert!' Robert was her husband, who had been dead for twenty years. It was very tortured and moving."

Silsila (1981) : Rang Barse Bheege Chunarwali | रंग बरसे भीगे चुनरवाली | Amitabh Bachchan

Bollywood has been produced so many songs on Holi festival all these years but this song from Silsila is still my most favorite. The taal (rhythm) of the song is Keherwa (Kaharva) of Hindustani classical music, while the lyrics were by poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan, based on a traditional bhajan, by 15th-century mystic poet Meera.

Kodaline - All I Want (Part 1 & 2) | Album - In A Perfect World (2013)

In general we don't expects life lessons from music videos but this video by Irish Band KODALINE just taught me that "It doesn't matter how you look, Keep your chin up, let your inner beauty shine through, and you'll find people who will appreciate you for who you are.Truly outstanding. Never judge a book by its cover. The beauty is the eye of the beholder. This video got immense response so the band decide to continue the story and made a second video too for this song. I would suggest you to watch video in sequence so you will understand the story in better way.

Pankaj Udhas : Aur Aahista Kijiye Batein | और आहिस्ता कीजिये बातें | Album - Stolen Moments(1999)

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

Fergie : Big Girls Don't Cry (Personal) | Album - The Dutchess (2006)

“When someone cries so hard that it hurts their throat, it is out of frustration or knowing that no matter what you can do or attempt to do can change the situation. When you feel like you need to cry, when you want to just get it out, relieve some of the pressure from the inside - that is true pain. Because no matter how hard you try or how bad you want to, you can't. That pain just stays in place. Then, if you are lucky, one small tear may escape from those eyes that water constantly. That one tear, that tiny, salty, droplet of moisture is a means of escape. Although it's just a small tear, it is the heaviest thing in the world. And it doesn't do a damn thing to fix anything.”

Hum Dil De Chukhe Sanam (1999) : Jhonka Hawa Ka | झोंका हवा का | Hariharan

“Aloneness and all-oneness is our authentic nature. We are always alone and all-one. We came into this planet alone and all-one. We will leave alone and all-one. And also during our whole staying in this world, no matter how we engage in relationships, we continue to be alone and all-one, though we may forget about it or pretend it is not the case.

Highway (2014) : Heera Soyi Sarahiye | हीरा सोई सराहिये | Shweta Pandit

The track takes you to another level with its smooth flow of various instruments in Rahman style in the middle. Wat a fabulous piece of composition especially the violin and the bells, Truly A Masterpiece because of using the Diamond as metaphor for Person's Character through Dohas of SAINT KABIR. Howrah Bridge (1958) : Aaiye Meherbaan | आइये मेहरबाँ | Asha Bhosle

This is called some thing ever green..One of the most sensuous songs of bollywood. Item song is about expression and music not about skin show. Madhubala's expression in this song is amazing. I especially like the moment when she goes over to Ashok Kumar, then looks at the other guy with a teasing look....takes the cigarette and meshes it in the tray....the cigarette being symbolic of the other guy who is burning of jealousy and then she intends to destroy the guy like she did with the cigarette.

Jagjit Singh & Asha Bhosle : Jab Samne Tum Aa Jate Ho | Album - Dil Kahin Hosh Kahin (2000)

Socha Na Tha (2005) : Socha Na Tha | सोचा न था | Sadhana Sargam | Sandesh Shandilya

"He’s not perfect. You aren’t either, and the two of you will never be perfect. But if he can make you laugh at least once, causes you to think twice, and if he admits to being human and making mistakes, hold onto him and give him the most you can. He isn’t going to quote poetry, he’s not thinking about you every moment, but he will give you a part of him that he knows you could break. Don’t hurt him, don’t change him, and don’t expect for more than he can give. Don’t analyze. Smile when he makes you happy, yell when he makes you mad, and miss him when he’s not there. Love hard when there is love to be had. Because perfect guys don’t exist, but there’s always one guy that is perfect for you." - Bob Marley

Green Day : Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life) | Album - Nimrod (1997)

One of my all time favorite songs. Genius in its simplicity, and infinitely relevant to the timeless practice of being present and experiencing life through acceptance and self-reflection. The lyrics have been a mediation for listeners well over a decade now, and they never lose relevance or fail to clear stressful thoughts from our busy mind. Thank you Green Day.

Barfi (2012) - Saawli Si Raat | सांवली सी रात | Arijit Singh
